Our competition loves to mislead or manipulate their bale spear capacity into being higher than what their capacity actually is. The way to do this is test their bale spears as close to the sleeved base as possible. What this does is test the hay fork at the point where it’s actually the strongest but typically not where the burden of the load is at when lifting and hauling your round bales. Especially on rough terrain. Which let’s be honest, that’s what a majority of hay farmers have is rough and harsh land. 24″ is what the majority of companies test the spears at.
