Description

396TXJ 39-Inch Tapered Hay Fork with 110T Sleeve

The HAYSTIX® 396TXJ 39-inch tapered hay fork is a complete spear-and-sleeve assembly for building or repairing compatible bale-handling equipment. Its 1.375-inch Conus I spear is sized for controlled penetration into round bales, compact square bales, straw, silage, and other dense feed materials. Rated at 1,700 pounds at a 30-inch load center, the assembly includes the matching 110T weld-in sleeve and PRO-Link’s patented Doublenut® mounting hardware.

The 39-inch length provides useful bale engagement without the added reach of PRO-Link’s longer 43-inch model. This can suit properly designed compact hay movers, grouped-spear frames, and other attachments where the available space, bale size, and frame layout call for a medium-length tine. Its gradual taper helps the spear enter compressed material and release cleanly during feeding, unloading, and stacking.

Conus I Profile for Controlled Bale Handling

The 396TXJ uses a tapered 1.375-inch spear rather than a straight cross-hole design. As the point enters a bale, its gradual profile separates the packed fibers progressively. The narrower shaft can reduce the surface area held by dense or moisture-heavy hay, supporting smoother withdrawal and helping limit unnecessary pullback when the bale is placed or opened for feeding.

At 39 inches, the tine can be incorporated into single- or multi-spear carriers designed for suitable bales. In a grouped arrangement, correct spacing and alignment help distribute the work across the attachment and maintain predictable bale control. The spear’s square shank can be oriented during installation to match the layout of a properly engineered frame.

When fabricated into a compatible carrier, the 396TXJ may be used on attachments carried by tractor front-end loaders, skid steers, telehandlers, or compact agricultural equipment. Machine category alone does not establish fit. Compatibility depends on the frame structure, coupler, spear position, clearance, weld quality, attachment rating, and the limits of the machine carrying the completed assembly.

Installing the 110T Sleeve and Doublenut® Hardware

The included 110T collar is designed for permanent weld-in installation in suitable steel tubing or another properly supported frame location. Remove the spear and retaining hardware before welding. A qualified fabricator should determine the sleeve’s direction, projection, alignment, surrounding steel, and welding procedure. The collar must be positioned so the spear seats correctly and aligns with any other tines on the attachment.

After welding, allow the sleeve and surrounding frame to cool before installing the spear. The Conus I shank slides into the matching 110T taper. Tightening the conical nut draws the spear firmly into the sleeve, and the second jam nut locks against it to help resist loosening from vibration and repeated bale-handling cycles.

The published capacity applies to the individual spear at the stated load center. It does not establish or increase the capacity of the completed frame, coupler, loader, or machine. Bale weight can change considerably with size, density, moisture, and material. Operators should follow the lowest applicable rating and use the attachment only for its intended bale-handling purpose.

Inspect the spear point, shaft, taper, threads, nuts, sleeve, welds, and surrounding frame before use. Stop operating if anything is loose, bent, cracked, distorted, or excessively worn. PRO-Link covers the 396TXJ with a one-year limited warranty against defects in materials and workmanship under normal use, subject to the complete warranty terms.

Questions & Answers

What is included with the 396TXJ?

The assembly includes the 39-inch by 1.375-inch Conus I spear, compatible 110T weld-in sleeve, and Doublenut® retaining hardware.

How is this 39-inch tapered hay fork installed?

The empty 110T collar is welded into a properly designed steel frame. After it cools, the spear seats inside the sleeve and is secured with the conical nut and jam nut.

Will the 396TXJ fit any tractor or skid-steer attachment?

No. It requires welding and fabrication into a compatible carrier. Verify the frame, sleeve placement, coupler, clearances, spear spacing, and total equipment capacity before installation.
