Description
SM43TXJ 43-Inch Replacement Hay Spear – Tapered
The HAYSTIX® SM43TXJ 43-inch replacement hay spear is a spear-only service part for restoring a compatible bale-handling attachment without buying another sleeve. Its 1.75-inch square profile, Conus II tapered mount, and Doublenut® retention system match PRO-Link’s heavy-duty HAYSTIX® configuration. Rated at 3,500 pounds at a 30-inch load center, this tine provides deep engagement for large round bales, square bales, silage, straw, and other dense feed materials.
Because the model begins with “S,” no sleeve or collar is included. The SM43TXJ is intended for an existing, serviceable 144T weld-in sleeve or for a properly designed system using that compatible collar. It is a practical choice when the original bale spike is bent, worn, cracked, or missing but the installed sleeve and attachment frame remain in usable condition.
Replace a Damaged Tine Without Rebuilding the Frame
Replacing only the worn hay tine can return an otherwise sound attachment to work while avoiding the cutting and welding required to change an undamaged collar. Before ordering, compare the old component’s 43-inch length, 1.75-inch profile, Conus II taper, threaded end, and Doublenut® mounting method. The complete 43TXJ assembly includes the 144T weld-in sleeve; the SM43TXJ supplies the corresponding bare spear and retaining nuts for buyers who already have the correct mount.
This model is also the verified spear used in the AG-GO U7264-436 square hay bale frame, which carries seven 43-inch tines. Owners servicing that attachment should still inspect the collar, frame, welds, and neighboring spears before replacing a single part. A matching model number helps identify the component, but the condition of the entire carrier determines whether a tine-only repair is appropriate.
The longer reach helps the point engage farther into suitable bales during feeding, stacking, staging, and trailer loading. Bale weight can change considerably with size, density, and moisture. The 3,500-pound rating applies to the individual spear at the stated load center; it does not establish the capacity of the finished frame, coupler, loader, or machine.
144T Sleeve Compatibility and Doublenut® Installation
The tapered shank seats inside the existing 144T sleeve. Tightening the first nut draws the taper firmly into the collar, while the second nut locks against it to help resist loosening from vibration and repeated handling. Both nuts and the exposed threads should be inspected routinely, and the spear must be seated and tightened correctly before use.
When installed in a compatible, properly rated bale attachment, the replacement tine may serve tractor front-end loaders, skid steers, telehandlers, and custom hay carriers. This does not mean it fits every attachment used on those machines. Compatibility is determined by the installed 144T sleeve, frame layout, coupler, clearances, weld quality, spear spacing, and the capacity of the complete system.
Check the hay stab before each work period and stop using it if it is loose, bent, cracked, severely worn, or damaged at the threads or taper. If the sleeve is distorted, cracked, loose in the frame, or no longer holds the spear correctly, replace the appropriate components and have the attachment evaluated by a qualified fabricator. PRO-Link covers the SM43TXJ with a one-year limited warranty against manufacturer’s defects, subject to the complete warranty terms.
Questions & Answers
Does the SM43TXJ include a 144T sleeve?
No. It is a spear-only replacement supplied for an existing compatible sleeve. Choose the complete 43TXJ assembly when the repair also requires a new 144T weld-in collar.
What should I compare before ordering this 43-inch replacement hay spear?
Confirm the original tine’s model, length, diameter, Conus II taper, threaded Doublenut® connection, and 144T sleeve. Also inspect the frame and collar to ensure a spear-only repair is suitable.
Can the SM43TXJ replace a tine on an AG-GO U7264-436 frame?
Yes. PRO-Link identifies the SM43TXJ as the spear used on that seven-tine square-bale frame. Verify the attachment model and inspect the installed sleeve and structure before installation.
