The 33TXJ 33 inch heavy duty bale spear gives a compact hay-handling frame a 1.75 inch tapered tine rated at 3,500 lb at a 30 inch load center. It is a complete HAYSTIX® assembly with the 144T Conus II weld-in sleeve and PRO-Link’s Doublenut® retaining hardware. The shorter blade suits daily feeding, barnyard movement, and other jobs where a long spear would project farther than needed. It can handle appropriately sized round or square bales when matched to a properly designed attachment and carrier.

A Compact Spear for Heavy Bales

The 33 inch length offers a useful balance of bale penetration and maneuvering room near a hay stack, feeding area, or trailer. Its tapered profile is designed to enter hay and pull free during placement. Unlike the slimmer 336TXJ, this model has a 1.75 inch profile and a higher published rating. Choose between them according to bale weight, bale dimensions, the frame’s spear arrangement, and the machine’s capacity rather than length alone.

The spear’s square profile helps it sit consistently in a properly matched frame. A fabricator can plan its orientation and sleeve placement around the attachment’s intended bale position, but the spear does not make every frame or mounting angle suitable. A tractor front-end loader, skid steer, or other carrier uses a complete bale attachment and compatible coupler; this removable tine mounts through its sleeve in that frame.

A 3,500 lb spear rating describes this component under the stated load-center condition. It does not set the working capacity of a finished bale mover. Frame steel, welds, sleeve, retaining hardware, coupler, loader, ballast, and the actual bale position can impose a lower limit. Wet hay and dense bales can weigh more than their size suggests, so confirm load weight before lifting.

Install the 144T Sleeve and Secure the Tine

The included 144T Conus II sleeve is a weld-in mounting component. A qualified fabricator should determine its position, support, alignment, and welding procedure for the intended frame. Keep the spear and nuts out of the sleeve while welding. After the sleeve cools, inspect its internal taper and remove anything that could prevent the spear from seating fully.

Insert the 33TXJ’s tapered mounting end into the matching sleeve. The conical nut draws the taper into its seat; the second nut locks against it to help resist vibration-related loosening. PRO-Link’s Doublenut® mounting guide explains that connection and its inspection points. Check the spear, nuts, sleeve, welds, and frame during routine service. If a sleeve is damaged or loose, replacing only the tine will not fix the mounting problem.
