Description
436TXJ 43-Inch Tapered Bale Spike with 110T Sleeve
The HAYSTIX® 436TXJ 43-inch tapered bale spike is a complete spear-and-sleeve assembly for operators and fabricators who need long bale engagement with a slimmer Conus I profile. Measuring 43 inches long by 1.375 inches in diameter, the spike is rated at 1,700 pounds at a 30-inch load center. It includes the compatible 110T weld-in sleeve/collar and PRO-Link’s patented Doublenut® hardware for a secure, serviceable connection.
This configuration is well suited to grouped-spike frames and other properly engineered hay-handling attachments. Its extended reach can provide deeper engagement in large square bales and dense feed material, while the narrower tapered body is intended to withdraw with less surface contact than a larger-diameter tine. That combination supports controlled loading, transport, stacking, feeding, and unloading.
Conus I Profile for Penetration and Bale Release
The point and shaft use a gradual Conus I taper. As the 436TXJ enters a bale, the shape separates compressed fibers progressively instead of presenting a full-width surface at once. This helps the spike enter tightly packed hay and can make removal smoother when unloading or placing bales. The 43-inch length also allows the tine to reach farther into suitable bales, helping the attachment maintain engagement during careful travel over uneven farm ground.
The square shank allows the spike to be oriented during fabrication, which is useful when arranging multiple tines across a bale frame. In grouped systems, correct spacing and alignment help distribute the work among the spears and support predictable bale control. The published capacity applies only to the individual spike at the specified load center. The safe working capacity of the completed attachment is determined by its lowest-rated component, including the frame, welds, sleeves, coupler, loader, and machine.
The 436TXJ may be incorporated into properly designed bale-handling equipment carried by tractor front-end loaders, skid steers, or telehandlers. It is not a universal direct-fit component for every machine or attachment. Compatibility depends on the fabricated frame, sleeve placement, tine spacing, coupler, clearances, structural rating, and intended bale-handling arrangement.
110T Weld-In Sleeve and Doublenut® Mounting
The supplied 110T sleeve is designed for welding into suitable steel tubing or a fabricated agricultural frame. Remove the bale spike before welding so heat from installation does not affect the tine or fastening components. A qualified fabricator should confirm the collar’s direction, alignment, surrounding steel, weld procedure, and finished attachment strength.
After the sleeve is installed and has cooled, the tapered shank seats inside the matching collar. Tightening the first nut draws the taper firmly into position. The second nut locks against the first to help resist loosening from vibration and repeated bale-handling cycles. This removable mounting arrangement also allows the tine and sleeve to be inspected separately during routine service.
Before use, check that the spear is fully seated and that both nuts are properly secured. Inspect the point, shaft, taper, threads, collar, frame, and welds regularly. Stop using the equipment if any part is loose, cracked, deformed, excessively worn, or otherwise damaged. PRO-Link covers the 436TXJ with a one-year limited warranty against manufacturer’s defects, subject to the complete warranty terms.
Questions & Answers
What is included with the 436TXJ?
The assembly includes the 43-inch by 1.375-inch Conus I bale spike, the compatible 110T weld-in sleeve/collar, and Doublenut® mounting hardware.
How is this 43-inch tapered bale spike installed?
The empty 110T sleeve is welded into suitable steel tubing by a qualified fabricator. After the collar cools, the spear seats in the taper, and the two nuts draw it tight and lock the connection.
Can the 436TXJ be used on a tractor or skid steer?
Yes, when it is fabricated into a compatible, properly rated bale-handling attachment. Machine category alone does not confirm fit; verify the frame, coupler, sleeve placement, spacing, clearances, and total system capacity.
