S48S Hay Bale Spike

The S48S hay bale spike is a 48-inch fluted bale spear designed as a direct replacement option for existing hay spear assemblies. Rated at 3,000 lbs at a 30-inch load center, it delivers dependable strength and practical performance for everyday round and square bale handling.

Unlike the 48SS assembly, the S48S spear is sold without the 155 sleeve, making it ideal for replacing a worn or damaged spear while retaining an existing sleeve. The fluted design allows for easier penetration and cleaner release from dense, wet, or tightly packed bales while maintaining the same lifting capacity as heavier solid spears.

Fluted Design, Installation, and Performance

The S48S features a fluted profile that reduces overall spear weight without sacrificing strength. For proper installation, the spear must be installed in the sleeve with the flutes oriented parallel to the ground to ensure optimal performance and clean bale release.
