It combines a 33 inch by 1.625 inch fluted spear with the matching 155 weld-in sleeve or collar, cross bolt, and retaining nut. The individual spear is rated at 3,000 pounds at a 30 inch load center.

Its shorter length can improve maneuverability around barns, feeders, trailers, and closely stored hay when 33 inch engagement is appropriate for the bale and frame. The 33SS may be incorporated into properly designed tractor-loader attachments, skid steer hay frames, three-point bale movers, and custom agricultural carriers. It is a weld-in component assembly, not a universal attachment that connects directly to every machine.

Fluted 33 Inch Cross-Bolt Spear for Controlled Handling

The 33SS uses a straight cross-hole mounting section rather than a tapered shank and retaining nut. Two fluted sides run toward the point to help the tine enter compressed hay progressively and reduce surface contact during withdrawal. Install the spear with its fluted sides parallel to the ground to maintain the intended working orientation.

Installing the 155 Weld-In Sleeve and Cross Bolt

The included 155 cross-bolt sleeve is welded into suitable steel tubing or another properly supported location in the attachment frame. Before fabrication, confirm the sleeve position, tine angle, projection, cross-bolt access, surrounding steel, clearance, and complete frame design. Installation should be completed by a qualified fabricator familiar with agricultural attachments and bale-handling forces.

Remove the spear, bolt, and nut before welding. Hold the empty collar straight and use a welding procedure appropriate for the sleeve and frame materials. After the assembly has cooled, inspect for distortion, cracks, blocked clearance, or weld spatter inside the sleeve.

Clean the spear’s straight mounting section and slide it into the collar until the cross holes align naturally. Insert the supplied bolt through both components and secure it with the retaining nut. Do not force the bolt through misaligned holes, enlarge the openings, or substitute tapered mounting hardware.
