Hayspears Cross Bolt Hay Spears

Hayspears® cross bolt hay spears use a straight, mechanically retained mounting system for compatible bale frames and agricultural attachments. Models in this category use a 1-5/8-inch spear profile and are rated at 3,000 pounds at a 30-inch load center. Available 33-, 39- and 48-inch lengths give buyers options for replacement repairs, new fabrication and different bale-handling needs.

During installation, the straight spear slides into its matching sleeve or collar until the cross holes align. The proper retaining bolt then passes through both the sleeve and spear to hold the hay tine in position. This is different from a tapered mounting system, which uses a tapered sleeve and retaining nut. Cross-bolt and tapered parts should not be substituted for one another.

Complete models without an S prefix include the sleeve and fastening hardware identified in the individual listing. Several complete 1-5/8-inch cross-bolt assemblies use the 155 weld-in collar. Spear-only products beginning with S do not include the sleeve or hardware unless the product page clearly states otherwise. Replacement buyers should confirm exactly what is included before ordering.

Many Hayspears® models use a fluted profile that helps the tine enter dense bale material and release when the bale is set down. When a product has two fluted sides, follow the model’s installation guidance for proper orientation. Available lengths can serve compact round bales, large round bales and square bales made from dry hay, straw, wet hay, silage, haylage or cornstalks when the complete attachment is suitable for the material.

These cross-hole bale spikes are commonly installed in compatible tractor loader frames, skid steer hay attachments, front-end loader frames, three-point bale movers and custom agricultural equipment. Machine type alone does not guarantee fit.

Before purchasing, match the 1-5/8-inch diameter, shank dimensions, cross-hole location, sleeve model, bolt requirements, spear length and published capacity.
