PHD-200A Post Hole Digger Replacement Blade
$10.00
Solid hardened steel replacement excavating blade for PHD-900 and PHD-1200 auger heads. Sold individually with a 1/2 inch bolt and locking nut.
Description
The PHD-200A post hole digger replacement blade restores the ground cutting edge on compatible PRO-Link auger heads without requiring replacement of the complete head assembly. Made from solid hardened steel with a published hardness of 36–38 HRC, this service part is designed for repeated contact with compacted soil, clay, and other abrasive ground conditions encountered during fencing, planting, pole setting, and property maintenance work.
Each PHD-200A is sold individually and includes one 1/2 inch mounting bolt and locking nut. The blade is a verified replacement for the PRO-Link PHD-900 and PHD-1200 digger heads. It is an excavating blade that cuts soil at the outer portion of the head; it is not the center pilot point or a universal blade for every post hole digger.
Hardened Replacement Cutting Edge for Auger Maintenance
An auger blade gradually loses its effective cutting edge as it contacts soil, sand, gravel, roots, and other material. A rounded, chipped, bent, or badly worn blade can make the head less effective and may cause uneven digging. Replacing the worn component helps return the compatible head to its intended cutting arrangement while allowing a serviceable head body to remain in use.
The PHD-200A’s 36–38 HRC hardness provides a practical balance of wear resistance and strength for ground engaging work. Actual service life depends on soil composition, moisture, buried material, operating speed, equipment condition, and maintenance. Rocky or highly abrasive ground can accelerate wear, so the blade should be inspected regularly rather than replaced only after digging performance becomes poor.
Common applications for a properly equipped auger include:
- Fence, gate, and livestock area post holes
- Tree and large shrub planting
- Signpost and pole installation
- Farm, ranch, landscaping, and property maintenance projects
- Compatible tractor, three point, and skid steer auger systems
The blade does not determine the finished hole diameter. That measurement comes from the compatible auger head: the PHD-900 cuts a 9 inch hole, while the PHD-1200 cuts a 12 inch hole. PRO-Link’s post hole digger parts guide explains the roles of replacement blades, pilot tips, and complete digger heads.
Verified Head Fit and Blade Installation
The PHD-200A fits the PHD-900 9 inch auger head and PHD-1200 12 inch auger head. Similar appearance or bolt size does not establish compatibility with another head. Compare the blade shape, mounting hole position, cutting orientation, head condition, and supplied hardware before installation.
Before servicing the auger, lower and support the equipment, shut down the tractor or hydraulic power source, remove the key, and wait for all movement to stop. Follow the equipment manufacturer’s service instructions. Penn State Extension’s PTO safety guidance explains driveline hazards associated with equipment such as three point post hole diggers, while Ohio State’s post hole digger safety checklist covers blade sharpness, guards, hydraulic components, and wear inspections.
Remove the worn blade and old hardware, then clean and inspect the mounting surface. Position the new blade in the same correct cutting direction, align the holes without forcing or enlarging them, and install the included 1/2 inch bolt and locking nut. Tighten the hardware according to the applicable equipment instructions. Check for secure seating and adequate clearance before operating the auger.
Inspect the pilot point, remaining cutting components, head, receiver, cross bolt, shaft, flighting, guards, gearbox or hydraulic drive, and connections during the same service. A new blade cannot correct a damaged head, bent shaft, worn pilot point, or loose receiver. The PHD-200A is covered by PRO-Link’s one year limited warranty against manufacturer’s defects; normal wear from ground contact is not a manufacturing defect.
Questions & Answers
What auger heads use the PHD-200A blade?
The PHD-200A is the verified replacement excavating blade for the PRO-Link PHD-900 and PHD-1200 digger head assemblies.
What comes with one PHD-200A?
Each individually sold blade includes one 1/2 inch mounting bolt and locking nut. Order the quantity required after inspecting the complete auger head.
When should a post hole digger replacement blade be changed?
Replace it when the cutting edge becomes badly rounded, chipped, bent, cracked, loose, or worn enough to reduce effective digging. Inspect the mounting area and other auger components before installing the new blade.
