39 Inch Replacement Bale Spear for Compact Work Areas
The SM39TXJ has the traditional square HAYSTIX® shaft rather than the fluted profile used on FX and FXJ models. Its working profile narrows toward the point to enter packed crop material progressively. The 39 inch reach provides a middle ground between compact 33 inch tines and longer 49 inch or 55 inch spears when the bale and attachment design allow the shorter engagement.
This replacement tine may be suitable for round hay bales, supported square bales, straw, cornstalk bales, haylage, or silage. Bale dimensions alone do not determine the correct spear. Moisture, density, total weight, wrapping, center of gravity, tine position, and frame design all affect stability. Large or heavy bales may require multiple primary spears, stabilizer tines, a different spacing pattern, or additional reach.
When installed in the correct frame, the SM39TXJ may be used in tractor loader, skid steer, telehandler, front-end loader, bale mover, feeding equipment, or custom agricultural attachments. These are possible applications, not universal fit claims. The installed collar, frame, coupler, operating clearance, spear arrangement, and carrying machine must all be suitable for the intended bale. Checking the Sleeve and Installing the Replacement Tine
The 144T 1.75 inch Conus II sleeve is PRO-Link’s verified collar for the SM39TXJ. The replacement spear may also fit another properly matched collar designed for the same mounting profile, but a nominal 1.75 inch opening does not prove compatibility. Confirm the internal taper, seating depth, thread clearance, nut arrangement, alignment, surrounding support, and condition of the welds. Before installation, clean and inspect the collar, tapered seat, surrounding frame, and existing hardware. Do not reuse a sleeve that is cracked, loose, distorted, heavily corroded, excessively worn, or unable to seat the spear correctly. Because retaining nuts are not included with the SM39TXJ, reuse them only when they are the correct parts for the system and remain undamaged and serviceable.
Insert the Conus II mounting end through the compatible collar and orient the square tine as required by the frame. The conical retaining nut draws the matching tapered surfaces together. The secondary jam nut then locks against the first nut to help resist vibration-related loosening. The 3,500 pound rating applies to the individual spear at the stated load center. It does not raise the capacity of the collar, nuts, frame, welds, coupler, loader, or machine. Follow the lowest-rated component in the complete system. Inspect the point, square shaft, taper, threads, hardware, sleeve, welds, and frame regularly.
