39TXJ 39-Inch Tapered Bale Stab – Complete Assembly

The HAYSTIX® 39TXJ 39-inch tapered bale stab is a complete hay-handling assembly for operators who want heavy lifting capacity in a shorter, easier-to-position spear. It pairs a 1.75-inch square-profile bale tine with the 144T weld-in sleeve/collar and PRO-Link’s patented Doublenut® locking system. The published capacity is 3,500 pounds at a 30-inch load center.

Compared with a 49- or 55-inch hay spear, the 39-inch model can provide better clearance around feeders, barns, trailers, and closely stacked hay. It is suited to properly engineered attachments used on tractor loaders, skid steers, front-end loaders, telehandlers, bale movers, and feeding equipment. Machine, frame, and attachment ratings must always be confirmed before use.

Shorter Square Hay Tine for Controlled Bale Handling

The 39TXJ has a tapered square profile rather than the fluted shaft used on HAYSTIX® FX and FXJ models. Its taper helps the point enter packed crop material while the broad square body supports the load. During installation, the tapered mounting end seats into the matching collar and the nut system secures the spear in position.

The compact length is useful when handling loads such as:

  • Medium and large round hay bales
  • Small and large square bales when the frame provides proper support
  • Alfalfa, Bermuda grass, prairie hay, and mixed-grass hay
  • Straw and cornstalk bales
  • Haylage, silage, and other dense or high-moisture forage

Bale shape alone does not determine the correct setup. Diameter, width, density, moisture level, wrapping, and total weight affect spear engagement and stability. A single primary hay spike may work for many round-bale jobs, while large square bales commonly require stabilizer tines or a multiple-spear frame. Never exceed the lowest capacity shown for the loader, attachment, sleeve, hardware, or spear.

The square shank also gives fabricators useful orientation choices when laying out a compatible frame. It must still be seated, tightened, and aligned according to the mounting design. Buyers wanting a fluted 39-inch option should compare the HAYSTIX® 39FXJ Fluted Hay Spike, which serves a different search need and shaft-profile preference.

144T Sleeve, Doublenut® Retention, and Machine Applications

This complete hay spear assembly includes the 144T 1.75-inch Conus II weld-in sleeve/collar and the applicable Doublenut® locking system. The conical retaining nut draws the tapered spear firmly into its seat, and the second jam nut helps resist loosening caused by vibration and repeated lifting cycles.

Although the complete 39TXJ package comes with the 144T, the spear is not compatible only with a sleeve carrying that model number. Another collar may work if it is specifically designed to seat the same 1.75-inch Conus II spear profile and provides the correct taper, seating depth, thread clearance, weld strength, and structural rating. A sleeve should not be selected from inside diameter alone.

The assembly can be welded into a properly engineered tractor-loader hay fork, skid steer bale mover, telehandler attachment, front-end loader frame, or custom agricultural build. It may also be used in compatible AG-GO hay-handling equipment, subject to confirmation of the exact frame and layout. This is a weld-in component assembly, not a universal direct-fit attachment for every machine.

Inspect the spear, sleeve, retaining nuts, welds, frame, and loader connection before use. Remove bent, cracked, badly worn, or loose components from service. The 39TXJ is covered by PRO-Link’s one-year limited warranty against manufacturer’s defects.

Questions & Answers

What is included with the 39TXJ?

The package includes the 39-inch square tapered hay stab, 144T weld-in sleeve/collar, and PRO-Link Doublenut® retaining system. The loader attachment or hay frame is not included.

Why choose a 39-inch spear instead of a longer bale fork?

The shorter length can improve maneuverability around barns, feeders, trailers, and compact bale-handling areas. The correct length still depends on bale dimensions, weight, frame design, and the amount of engagement needed for stable handling.

What is the rated capacity of this hay sticker?

The HAYSTIX® 39TXJ 39-inch tapered bale stab is rated at 3,500 pounds at a 30-inch load center. Actual working capacity cannot exceed the lowest-rated part of the complete machine and attachment system.
