Weld-In Installation and Routine Inspection

The empty collar must be welded into suitable supporting steel by a qualified fabricator familiar with agricultural attachments and bale-handling forces. Before welding, confirm the sleeve position, planned tine angle, projection, rear clearance, cross-bolt access, frame strength, and the welding procedure required for the actual materials.

For proper installation:

• Remove the spear, cross-bolt, nut, and other hardware before welding.
• Hold the empty collar straight and maintain the required position in the frame.
• Use a welding procedure appropriate for the collar and supporting steel.
• Allow the collar and frame to cool completely before installing the spear.
• Clean the opening and check for distortion, cracks, blocked clearance, or weld spatter.
• Slide the correct spear into place, align the holes naturally, and install the specified cross-bolt and retaining hardware.

Do not force a bolt through misaligned holes or enlarge the openings to make unmatched parts fit. Misalignment may indicate debris, heat distortion, frame damage, or the wrong spear or sleeve. After installation, inspect the collar, welds, cross-bolt, nut, spear, frame, and coupler regularly. Stop using the attachment if any component is loose, bent, cracked, stretched, or excessively worn.

The 1.625 inch size does not establish the safe capacity of the completed attachment. Always follow the lowest rating among the spear, welds, frame, coupler, loader, and other components.
