Description

HAYSTIX® 175 Bolt On Tine Sleeve – Cross-Bolt Bale Spear Mount

The HAYSTIX® 175 cross-bolt bale spear mount gives repair shops, farmers, and attachment fabricators a serviceable way to install a compatible 1.75-inch straight hay tine. The steel sleeve is welded into the attachment frame, and a cross bolt passes through aligned holes in both the sleeve and spear to retain the tine. This arrangement allows the spear to be removed later without cutting the sleeve out of the frame.

Although the product is commonly called a bolt-on tine sleeve, the sleeve itself is not bolted to the hay frame. It is a weld-in collar that uses cross-bolt spear retention. Making that distinction helps buyers avoid confusing the 175 with a tapered Conus II sleeve or a U-bolt bracket system.

Weld-In Sleeve for Straight Cross-Hole Hay Tines

The 175 has a 1.75-inch inside diameter and is designed for properly matched straight, cross-hole HAYSTIX® spears. During installation, the fabricator welds the collar into a correctly sized and engineered frame opening. The spear then slides into the sleeve until the holes align, allowing the correct bolt and nut to pass through both components.

This design supports practical service work because a damaged bale tine can be unbolted and replaced while the welded sleeve remains in the frame. It is useful for:

  • Repairing an existing tractor-loader hay fork
  • Replacing a worn mount in a skid steer bale spear attachment
  • Building a front-end loader bale mover or feeding frame
  • Retrofitting a three-point hay frame with serviceable spears
  • Fabricating compatible telehandler or agricultural loader attachments
  • Maintaining certain AG-GO hay-handling frames

The 175 is the sleeve used with the straight cross-hole HAYSTIX® 49FX and HAYSTIX® 55SX assemblies. Those complete models combine the 175 collar with their applicable spear and cross-bolt hardware. The separate sleeve is useful when the frame mount needs replacement or when a fabricator is building a compatible attachment from individual components.

This cross-hole system can be incorporated into frames used for round hay bales, square bales, straw, cornstalk bales, haylage, silage, and other dense forage. The sleeve does not determine what the entire attachment can safely lift. Frame layout, spear quantity, weld quality, bale size, load center, and the ratings of the machine and every installed component must all be considered.

Confirm Hole Alignment, Welding, and Complete-System Fit

A 1.75-inch inside diameter does not mean that every 1.75-inch hay spear will fit the 175 correctly. The replacement tine must have the appropriate straight mounting section, cross-hole size, hole location, insertion depth, and clearance for the required hardware. A tapered spear made for a nut-retained sleeve should not be substituted for the specified straight cross-bolt design.

Before welding, confirm the collar position, spear spacing, frame material, and required penetration angle for the intended attachment. Welding should be completed by a qualified person using a procedure suitable for the sleeve and frame materials. Poor alignment can prevent the retaining holes from lining up or cause the hay spike to sit incorrectly in the finished frame.

After installation, verify that the cross bolt passes cleanly through both holes and that the correct nut and retaining method are secure. Inspect the sleeve, bolt, spear, welds, and frame regularly for looseness, elongation, cracking, bending, or excessive wear. Replace damaged parts before returning the attachment to service.

High-strength steel construction helps the sleeve withstand repeated agricultural use when it is correctly welded into a properly engineered frame. The 175 is covered by PRO-Link’s one-year limited warranty against manufacturer’s defects.

Questions & Answers

Does the 175 sleeve bolt onto the attachment frame?

No. The 175 sleeve welds into the frame. “Bolt on” refers to the compatible spear being retained by a cross bolt that passes through aligned holes in the tine and sleeve.

Will any 1.75-inch bale tine fit this collar?

No. The tine must match the sleeve’s straight cross-hole mounting design, hole position, insertion depth, and hardware requirements. Inside diameter alone is not enough to confirm compatibility.

What products use the 175 sleeve?

The HAYSTIX® 175 cross-bolt bale spear mount is used with the compatible 49FX and 55SX straight cross-hole spear systems. It may also be used in properly designed repair, retrofit, and custom-fabrication projects after all dimensions and ratings are verified.
