HAYSTIX Bale Spear Hardware

HAYSTIX® bale spear hardware includes the mounting, retention and fabrication components used to install, repair or maintain compatible hay-handling equipment. This category contains tapered sleeves, cross-bolt collars, brackets, retaining nuts, U-bolts, bushings, bale stabilizers and selected welding supplies. Every part must be matched to the specific spear and attachment instead of being chosen by appearance alone.

Tapered mounting systems require a sleeve with the correct internal taper, shank dimensions, threads and nut arrangement. The 110T is a Conus I weld-in sleeve for specified 1-3/8-inch tapered models. The 144T is a 1.75-inch I.D. Conus II sleeve for specified heavy-duty tapered spears. The M24 and M30 retaining nuts fit only the products and thread sizes identified in their listings. A sleeve’s inside diameter alone does not confirm that a tapered spear will seat and tighten correctly.

Straight cross-bolt models use a different system. The spear and matching sleeve or bracket have aligned holes, and a bolt passes through both components. The 175 sleeve supports specified 1.75-inch cross-hole models, while the 175BU bracket mounts specified bracketed spears to compatible frame tubing. U-bolt assemblies secure applicable brackets around the correctly sized tubing. Tapered and cross-bolt components should never be substituted for one another.

The STAB1 bale stabilizer works beside a primary spear to help reduce bale rotation and side-to-side movement when installed in a properly designed location. Bushings and fabrication supplies serve separate repair or custom-building needs and should be selected according to their individual specifications.

Weld-in sleeves must be installed in suitable supporting steel by a qualified fabricator. The spear, nuts and other mounting parts should be removed before welding begins. After installation, inspect the sleeve, welds, bracket, bolts and surrounding frame before operating the attachment.
