Description

336CXJ Crooked Tine Bale Spear – 33-Inch Multipurpose HAYSTIX®

The HAYSTIX® 336CXJ crooked tine bale spear is a 33-inch by 1.375-inch tapered hay spear rated at 1,700 pounds. It belongs to PRO-Link’s multipurpose spear category because of its 1.375-inch diameter and carries the HAYSTIX® name because it uses the Doublenut® locking system. Its curved tine shape is designed to improve the approach to settled or flat bales near ground level, helping an operator engage hay with less reliance on loader tilt.

The complete 336CXJ includes the 110T weld-in sleeve/collar and Doublenut® hardware for installation in a properly designed bale-handling frame. This specialty bale tine can be used for feeding, moving, loading, and positioning suitable round or square bales where a different approach angle provides a practical advantage.

Crooked Profile for Low and Settled Bales

A bale can settle, flatten, or sit close enough to the ground that an operator has limited room to align a straight tine. The crooked profile changes the spear’s working angle, helping a correctly configured attachment approach low bales more effectively. This can be useful during winter feeding, pasture cleanup, barn work, and trailer loading where controlled bale engagement matters.

The 33-inch reach provides useful penetration without the extra length of larger primary spears. Its tapered point supports clean entry into compacted hay, while the 1.375-inch diameter gives it a smaller profile than PRO-Link’s larger standard spear families. Buyers may also refer to this type of product as a crooked hay tine, bale stab, hay spike, or bale fork.

The published 1,700-pound capacity applies to the individual 336CXJ component. It does not establish the safe capacity of the finished attachment or machine. Bale size, density, moisture, shape, spear position, and frame design all affect handling. Operators should engage the dense center portion of the bale and keep the load low during transport.

110T Sleeve, Doublenut® System, and Machine Use

The included 110T sleeve/collar is welded into a compatible hay-handling frame. The tapered end of the spear seats in the sleeve, and the Doublenut® system uses a seating nut plus a jam nut to secure the assembly and help resist loosening during repeated use and vibration. Sleeve placement, tine orientation, frame strength, and weld quality must support the intended work.

Depending on the attachment design, the 336CXJ may be incorporated into:

  • Tractor front-end-loader bale attachments
  • Skid-steer hay spear frames
  • Three-point bale movers
  • Telehandler bale-handling frames
  • Custom agricultural attachments

This does not mean the spear attaches directly to every tractor, skid steer, front-end loader, or telehandler. Machine compatibility comes from the complete attachment, coupler, frame, installation, and approved capacity. A qualified fabricator should verify alignment, retention, clearance, and structural strength before use. Always follow the lowest rating among the machine, attachment, mounting components, welds, and bale spear.

Inspect the tine, sleeve, nuts, frame, and welds regularly. Stop using the assembly if a component is loose, cracked, badly worn, distorted beyond the tine’s intended curve, or otherwise damaged. The 336CXJ is covered by PRO-Link’s one-year limited warranty against manufacturer’s defects; review the complete warranty terms for coverage details.
