Description
Hayspears® 33TS Tapered Bale Stabber – 33-Inch Tractor Hay Spear
The Hayspears® 33TS 33-inch tractor hay spear is a complete tapered assembly for feeding, stacking, and moving hay where a shorter tine provides better control. It combines a 1.625-inch (1⅝-inch) fluted spear with the 114T weld-in sleeve/collar and a conical retaining nut. The assembly is rated at 3,000 pounds at a 30-inch load center.
Its compact length works well around livestock feeders, barn openings, trailers, and other areas where a longer bale stab may reduce maneuverability. The 33TS can be incorporated into properly engineered tractor-loader frames, compact-tractor hay movers, skid steer attachments, three-point bale carriers, and custom feeding equipment. It is a weld-in component assembly rather than a universal attachment that connects directly to every machine.
Compact Fluted Hay Tine for Feeding and Bale Placement
The 33TS uses a tapered point to enter compressed crop material and dual fluted sides to reduce surface contact as the tine moves into and out of a bale. For the intended flute orientation, install the fluted sides parallel to the ground. Correct positioning supports the penetration and release characteristics of the Hayspears® profile.
The 33-inch length may be useful for handling:
- Round bales used in routine livestock feeding
- Small and medium square hay bales
- Dense alfalfa, Bermuda grass, prairie hay, and mixed-grass hay
- Straw and other dry forage bales
- Compact bales handled in barns, feedlots, and restricted loading areas
Spear length should be selected for the actual bale, not only the available workspace. Bale diameter, width, shape, density, moisture, and weight affect how deeply the tine engages the load. A round bale may use one primary spear with stabilizer tines, while a large square bale can require multiple primary spears or additional frame support. The attachment designer must determine the correct layout.
Heat-treated high-strength steel helps the hay spike resist flexing, fatigue, and wear during repeated farm use. That material strength does not replace regular inspections. Check the point, flutes, tapered mounting end, sleeve, retaining nut, welds, and attachment frame before lifting. Remove cracked, bent, badly worn, or loose components from service.
114T Weld-In Collar and Tapered Nut Retention
The complete 33TS package includes:
- 33-inch tapered Hayspears® tine
- 114T weld-in sleeve/collar
- Conical retaining nut
The 114T sleeve welds into a properly sized opening in the bale-spear frame. The tapered mounting end of the tine seats inside the collar, and the conical nut tightens the spear into position. This is different from a straight cross-hole system, which uses a bolt through aligned holes, and from a bracketed system secured to the frame with U-bolts.
The included 114T provides the known PRO-Link mounting match for this assembly. A replacement spear should not be selected by its 1⅝-inch diameter alone. Any alternative sleeve must be specifically designed for the same tapered spear profile and provide the correct internal taper, seating depth, thread clearance, weld requirements, and structural rating.
Fabricators can use the 33TS in compatible tractor-loader hay forks, front-end loader bale movers, skid steer hay frames, livestock feeding attachments, and custom agricultural equipment. It may also be used in certain AG-GO hay-handling attachments after the exact frame, spear spacing, and application are confirmed. Safe capacity is controlled by the lowest-rated component in the loader, attachment, sleeve, hardware, or spear system.
Operators who already have a serviceable compatible collar may want the corresponding spear-only replacement rather than another complete package. The 33TS is covered by PRO-Link’s one-year limited warranty against manufacturer’s defects.
Questions & Answers
What is included with the Hayspears® 33TS?
The 33TS includes the 33-inch tapered fluted tine, 114T weld-in sleeve/collar, and conical retaining nut. The loader attachment or bale frame is not included.
Why choose a shorter spear for a tractor hay frame?
A 33-inch tine can improve positioning around feeders, trailers, barns, and compact work areas. The operator must still confirm that its engagement depth and the attachment layout properly support the intended bale.
What is the rating of this compact bale stabber?
The Hayspears® 33TS 33-inch tractor hay spear is rated at 3,000 pounds at a 30-inch load center. The complete machine and attachment system must be rated for the load being handled.
