Description

The PRO-Link Hayspears® 114T 1.625 inch tapered bale spear sleeve is a weld-in collar for mounting compatible tapered hay tines in a fabricated bale-handling frame. Its machined internal seat supports the matching spear shank while the correct conical nut draws the two tapered surfaces together. The sleeve can be used in a new attachment build or to replace a worn collar in an existing tractor-loader, skid steer, three-point, telehandler, or custom hay frame.

This listing includes one 114T sleeve. The bale spear, conical nut, frame, welding, coupler, and other attachment components are separate unless the listing specifically states otherwise. Matching the 1.625 Inch Tapered Bale Spear Sleeve

The 114T is the verified sleeve supplied with these complete PRO-Link Hayspears® assemblies:

• 48TS 48 inch tapered bale spear

Their corresponding S33T, S39T, and S48T spear-only replacements may reuse an installed 114T when the collar, surrounding frame, and welds remain serviceable. These spears use a single conical retaining nut rather than the two-nut Doublenut® arrangement found on selected HAYSTIX® products. The applicable M30 conical retaining nut has an M30 x 2.0 thread, but the spear threads, taper, seating depth, and available clearance must all be confirmed before parts are combined.

Do not choose a sleeve by nominal diameter alone. A straight 1.625 inch cross-hole spear belongs in a compatible cross-bolt collar, not the tapered 114T. Likewise, the 114T should not be substituted for a 110T or 144T sleeve used with a different spear family. Welding the Collar and Installing the Bale Spear

The empty sleeve must be welded into suitable supporting steel in a properly designed bale-spear frame. Remove the tine, conical nut, and other heat-sensitive parts before welding. A qualified fabricator should determine the frame opening, collar direction, projection, spear angle, surrounding reinforcement, joint design, and welding procedure. The sleeve must remain aligned so the completed tine does not sit crooked or interfere with other spears, stabilizers, the coupler, or the carrying machine.

After the sleeve and frame have cooled, inspect the internal taper and remove any dirt, heavy scale, corrosion, or weld spatter that could prevent full seating. Insert the compatible spear through the collar in its required working orientation. Start the M30 conical nut by hand to confirm smooth thread engagement, then tighten it according to the applicable spear or attachment instructions. Tightening the nut draws the tapered mounting end into the sleeve; do not replace it with an ordinary flat nut.

Inspect the sleeve, internal seat, spear taper, threads, nut, frame steel, and welds before use and during regular service. Stop operating if the collar becomes cracked, distorted, loose, heavily worn, or unable to hold the spear correctly. Replacing the sleeve does not repair weak frame steel or establish the capacity of the completed attachment. The spear, collar installation, welds, frame, coupler, loader, and machine must each remain within their applicable limits.
