39TXJ 39 Inch Tapered Bale Stab – Complete Assembly

The HAYSTIX® 39TXJ 39 inch tapered bale stab is a complete assembly for fabricating or repairing hay-handling frames that need a shorter heavy-duty spear. It combines a 39 inch by 1.75 inch square Conus II tine with the matching 144T weld-in sleeve and PRO-Link’s patented Doublenut® mounting hardware. The individual spear is rated at 3,500 pounds at a 30 inch load center.

Compared with a 49 inch or 55 inch bale spear, the 39TXJ can provide additional maneuvering clearance around feeders, barns, trailers, and closely stacked hay. The completed frame must still match the bale, attachment, and carrying machine.

39 Inch Tapered Bale Stab Profile and Reach

The 39TXJ has a traditional square HAYSTIX® profile rather than the four-sided fluted SUPERSTIX® shape used on the 39FXJ. Its shaft tapers gradually toward the point, helping the hay tine enter compressed material progressively. Its square faces provide clear references for orienting the spear during fabrication.

The 39 inch length may suit round feed bales, square bales, multi-spear carriers, and attachments used for feeding, trailer unloading, or moving hay through confined areas. It should not be chosen from bale shape alone. Weight, width, density, moisture, center of gravity, tine spacing, stabilizer placement, and the distance between the load and frame all affect the required setup.

A single primary spear may serve many round-bale applications when the completed attachment is designed for the load. Large square or rectangular bales often require multiple spears or stabilizer tines arranged to support and control the bale. When welded into a compatible carrier, the 39TXJ may be used in tractor front-end loader frames, skid steer bale movers, telehandler attachments, three-point equipment, or custom feeding tools. Welding the 144T Sleeve and Installing the Spear

The included 144T Conus II sleeve must be welded into suitable structural steel in a properly engineered frame. Remove the spear and retaining nuts before welding. A qualified fabricator should determine collar orientation, projection, joint preparation, surrounding steel, alignment, and welding procedure. After the frame cools, inspect the sleeve and remove any debris or weld spatter that could interfere with seating.

Insert the spear’s Conus II mounting end through the collar. The conical retaining nut draws the matching tapered surfaces together, and the secondary jam nut locks against it to help resist vibration-related loosening. Although the complete 39TXJ includes the 144T, the spear may fit another properly supported collar made for the same 1.75 inch Conus II mounting profile.
