Description

3AB72 72-Inch Class 3 Lower Forklift Bar

The ALLPROFORKS® 3AB72 72-inch Class 3 lower forklift bar is a heavy-duty lower carriage rail for building or rebuilding wide forklift and pallet-fork carriages. Its 72-inch length gives fabricators room to position forks across a broader frame for jobs involving oversized pallets, bundled material, farm supplies, building products, and other wide loads. Made from high-strength structural steel, the 3AB72 is intended for demanding material-handling equipment where correct fork fit and dependable carriage alignment matter.

This is one lower rail, not a complete carriage or a bolt-on replacement for every forklift. It is commonly used as a weld-in component for custom fork frames, carriage repair, telehandler fork assemblies, loader pallet-fork frames, agricultural attachments, and industrial fabrication. The installer must confirm the carriage class, rail location, frame design, fork-hook dimensions, welding procedure, and equipment capacity before fabrication begins.

Class 3 Lower Rail Function and Practical Uses

Hook-type forklift forks connect to a carriage through upper and lower hooks. The lower fork hooks engage the lower carriage rail while the upper hooks hang on the upper rail. Together, the two rails keep the forks seated at the proper height and allow them to be positioned across the carriage. The 3AB72 does not support the heel of the fork blade; its job is to provide the correct lower engagement surface as part of the completed carriage assembly.

The longer bar can be useful when a standard-width carriage does not provide enough adjustment range for the material being handled. Depending on the engineered frame and equipment, common fabrication uses may include:

  • Wide pallet and crate handling
  • Telehandler or loader fork-frame construction
  • Agricultural material-handling attachments
  • Forklift carriage repair or replacement
  • Warehouse and industrial lifting equipment
  • OEM and custom pallet-fork fabrication

A wider rail does not increase the rated lifting capacity of the forklift, forks, attachment, or finished carriage. Safe capacity is determined by the complete system, including the machine data plate, load center, fork rating, carriage design, welds, and any attachment derating.

Fit, Fabrication, and Matching Upper Rail

The 3AB72 must be installed in a properly engineered Class 3 carriage with the upper and lower rails parallel, level, and positioned for the intended Class 3 forks. PRO-Link specifies a 20-1/8-inch vertical rail setup for this component. Confirm the drawing’s exact measurement points and finished rail position before welding. Do not identify fit from rail length alone. Before ordering, measure the existing carriage or review the fabrication drawing and confirm that a 72-inch lower bar, Class 3 hook geometry, and the planned frame design all match.

Pair the 3AB72 with the ALLPROFORKS® 3AT72 Class 3 upper forklift bar when the project calls for a matching 72-inch upper and lower rail set. The 3AT72 is the upper rail; both parts must be aligned to the exact finished-carriage dimensions required by the forks and equipment. Welding and carriage fabrication should be completed and inspected by qualified professionals familiar with lift-truck structures and material-handling attachments.

The 3AB72 is backed by PRO-Link’s one-year limited warranty against manufacturer’s defects. Review the complete warranty terms for coverage details.

Questions & Answers

Is the 3AB72 a top or bottom carriage bar?

The 3AB72 is the 72-inch lower, or bottom, bar for a Class 3 carriage. The matching 3AT72 is the upper bar.

Does the 3AB72 include the complete forklift carriage?

No. This product is one lower carriage rail. The upper rail, frame members, forks, welding, and other carriage components must be selected or fabricated separately for the specific project.

Can the 72-inch Class 3 lower forklift bar be used on any Class 3 forklift or fork frame?

Not automatically. The installer must verify the rail length, Class 3 fork-hook geometry, exact upper-to-lower rail placement, frame strength, welding requirements, and the capacity of the complete machine and attachment before use.
