3AT72 72 Inch Class 3 Forklift Top Rail

The ALLPROFORKS® 3AT72 72 inch Class 3 forklift top rail is a weld-in upper carriage bar for building or repairing a wide, properly engineered material-handling frame. Its 72-inch span provides room to position compatible ITA Class 3 hook-type forks across a broader carriage for wide pallets, crates, bundled materials, agricultural supplies, and other loads that may require increased fork-spacing flexibility. Made from high-strength structural steel, the 3AT72 is intended for demanding fabrication and carriage-repair applications.

This product includes one upper rail. It is not a complete forklift carriage, pallet-fork attachment, or universal bolt-on replacement. Compatibility depends on the fork-hook and lock dimensions, rail placement, frame design, mounting structure, welding procedure, carrier specifications, and intended load.

Notched Class 3 Top Rail for Wide Fork Positioning

On a hook-type carriage, each fork’s upper hook hangs from the top rail while its lower hook engages the bottom bar. The notches along the 3AT72’s upper edge provide positions for compatible fork locks. When the rails, forks, and locking hardware are correctly matched, the forks can be repositioned across the carriage and locked at spacing appropriate for the load.

Both fork locks should engage fully before lifting. Routine inspection should include the top-rail notches, fork hooks, locks, welds, and surrounding frame structure. Equipment with cracking, bending, excessive wear, looseness, or other damage should be removed from service until it has been properly evaluated.

The 72-inch rail provides more horizontal positioning range than the 3AT47 47-inch Class 3 top carriage bar. The wider rail may support a frame intended for oversized loads, but width does not increase the machine or attachment capacity. Safe capacity is determined by the complete system, including the carrier data plate, forks, load center, carriage structure, welds, coupler, attachment weight, hydraulics, and applicable derating.

Pairing the 3AT72 with the 3AB72 Lower Bar

PRO-Link specifies a 20-1/8-inch vertical rail setup for this Class 3 component. Because fabrication drawings may define their measurement points differently, the installer must confirm the applicable drawing, rail faces, finished spacing, and fork-hook engagement before cutting or welding. The upper and lower bars must remain straight, parallel, level, and correctly spaced so the selected forks seat properly without binding, excessive movement, or misalignment.

Pair the 3AT72 with the separately sold 3AB72 72-inch Class 3 lower forklift bar when the design requires a matching 72-inch rail set. The 3AT72 provides the upper hanging and locking surface, while the 3AB72 provides the engagement surface for the lower fork hooks. Forks, structural members, backplates, couplers, mounting components, welding, and other parts must be selected separately for the finished build.
