M30 Conical Nut for Tapered Bale Spears

$3.25

Replacement 30 mm conical retaining nut for selected tapered Hayspears® and HAYSTIX® assemblies. Match the thread, seat, sleeve, and spear model.

Description

The HAYSTIX® M30 conical nut for tapered bale spears is a replacement fastening component for selected PRO-Link Hayspears® and HAYSTIX® mounting systems. Its 30 mm thread and conical seating surface work with a correctly matched tapered spear and sleeve to draw the tine firmly into its installed position.

The M30 is not a universal replacement for every 30 mm nut or threaded bale spike. Thread pitch, thread condition, seating shape, spear model, sleeve profile, and available clearance must all match. The product listing identifies the M30 conical nut itself; do not assume a jam nut, sleeve, spear, or other hardware is included.

How the Conical Nut for Tapered Bale Spears Works

A tapered bale spear has a shaped mounting shank that passes through and seats against the matching internal surface of its sleeve or collar. Tightening the M30 draws those tapered surfaces together. This helps retain the hay tine in the intended position while a properly rated attachment lifts, carries, stacks, or feeds a bale.

The conical seating surface is an important part of the connection. An ordinary flat nut should not be substituted simply because its nominal thread diameter appears similar. A mismatched nut may contact the wrong area, fail to draw the taper fully into the collar, damage the threads, or leave the spear loose.

The M30 serves as the retaining nut on compatible single-nut Hayspears® systems. It is also the primary conical nut used in selected HAYSTIX® assemblies with PRO-Link’s patented Doublenut® bale spear mounting system. In that arrangement, the M30 seats the tapered spear and a separate jam nut locks against it to help resist vibration-related loosening. The second nut does not eliminate the need for correct installation and regular inspection.

Compatible Models and Replacement Checks

Verified tapered assemblies using the M30 include:

  • Hayspears® 33TS, 39TS, and 48TS
  • HAYSTIX® 33TXJ, 39TXJ, 43TXJ, 49TXJ, and 55TXJ

The listed Hayspears® TS models use the applicable 114T tapered sleeve system. The listed HAYSTIX® TXJ models use compatible tapered systems such as the 144T Conus II weld-in sleeve. Model identification is more dependable than selecting a nut by appearance or thread diameter alone. PRO-Link’s bale spear sleeve and collar guide explains how the sleeve, taper, threads, and retaining hardware work together.

Before installation, clean and inspect the spear threads and the nut’s seating surface. Look for flattened or crossed threads, stretching, cracks, corrosion, distortion, or other damage that could prevent full engagement. A new conical nut should not be used to hide damaged spear threads, a worn sleeve, cracked welds, or a bent attachment frame.

Start the M30 by hand to confirm that it threads smoothly without binding. Seat and tighten it according to the instructions for the exact spear and attachment. Do not invent one universal torque value for every application. If the spear uses Doublenut® retention, install the correctly matched jam nut in the proper sequence. Recheck the connection after initial use and include it in normal attachment inspections.

The M30 is also available through agricultural dealers. Nelson Agri-Center lists the PRO-Link M30 tapered spear nut as an exact replacement hardware option. Dealer pricing and inventory may change.

The nut does not establish the capacity of the bale spear or finished attachment. The lowest-rated component among the spear, sleeve, nuts, welds, frame, coupler, loader, and machine sets the working limit. The M30 is covered by PRO-Link’s one-year limited warranty against manufacturer’s defects, subject to the complete terms.

Questions & Answers

Is the M30 compatible with every tapered bale spear?

No. The spear must have the correct thread diameter and pitch, tapered mounting profile, seating arrangement, and sleeve system. Confirm the exact model before ordering.

Does the M30 include the Doublenut® jam nut?

No additional hardware is identified as included. The M30 is the conical retaining nut; obtain the correct jam nut separately when the applicable Doublenut® assembly requires one.

What does the M30 conical nut do?

It draws a compatible threaded spear into its matching tapered sleeve. This seats and retains the hay tine as one part of the complete mounting system.
